Everyone hopes that the day they have planned for goes to plan, and the good news is that it usually does! We can assure you I Do OBX Weddings & Events will do everything in our power to help you have that perfect day. However, occasionally things happen that are unfortunately out of both our hands and yours. These circumstances could include things like hurricanes, deployment, an unexpected death in the family, or something we would never imagine like COVID-19. Be very specific when asking what your insurance coverage policy covers before you make a decision.
What kind of coverage should we get?
This varies for every couple and what they are securing for their event. There are two primary types of insurance, liability and cancellation insurance. Liability covers situations like if a guest slips and gets injured at your event while cancellation would be your go-to for hurricane season. Some venues and wedding vendors have their own insurance coverage, so you may only need coverage for other vendors. Make sure to read your contracts carefully with each vendor to see where you are already covered and where you might need back up. Another thing to keep in mind is some venues and vendors require wedding insurance.
How much is wedding insurance?
This of course varies as well, but wedding insurance is honestly relatively inexpensive! Many wedding insurance companies provide the option to receive an estimate on a quote before you sign up for anything at all. According to The Knot, “A basic insurance policy that covers loss of photos, videos, attire, gifts, rings and deposits usually costs anywhere between $155 and $550.” From our research, insurance usually rangers from $150 to $1,000. If you think about all the expenses you are investing in your special wedding day, insurance could be worth it!
Where do we start?
I Do OBX Weddings & Events is in no way affiliated with any insurance company and does not recommend any specific insurance company at this time as they are not one size fits all. We do however recommend thoroughly researching all your options and insuring your event! Below are some links to get you started.
